Hey, there. Welcome to Innovation Cafe. I’m your friendly neighborhood inventor. And today, pattern coach, Gary Schuster. And today, I want to talk about how to get confidence in your ability to create. It should be easy, we would think. Right. But it’s not because school is all about teaching you what can’t be done. And even when it teaches you what can be done, it teaches you that you have to do it in a certain way. So you’re born very confident in your creativity. If you give a two year old a bunch of blocks, they will build all kinds of things.
If you give an adult a bunch of blocks, will just have a bunch of blocks. Maybe they’re just going to have a bunch of blocks. Maybe they’ll regift them. I don’t know, but your confidence was there and it can be there again. Here’s what to remember. There’s no reason that you should ever say to yourself, this can’t be done. I can’t solve it. This is impossible. Any of that negative stuff is just bad thinking. Instead, your mantra is this I will solve this, might not solve it today, might not solve it tomorrow. But this is getting solved.
I will create that piece of artwork that I’ve been thinking about. I’m going to go and look at some other pieces of artwork. I’m going to go to some museums. I’m going to take some inspiration and get fired up, and I’m going to do it. If you’re an author and you’ve got writer’s block, read some stuff. I’d say read one really good piece of writing. Want a really bad piece of writing every day, and eventually you will come around to writing what you need to write. Creativity is something that is a cornerstone of human civilization.
Everything we’re surrounded by the servers that are serving you. This video right now, the headphones that you have on to listen to the video or the speakers always think the lights in your house. These were all invented by humans, humans who are no more creative than you. You don’t need to be a magician or some kind of master or innovator. You just have to be human and good news, you are. So there’s no reason to have any kind of crisis of creative confidence. I encourage you to watch this channel because there are a lot of tips and tricks to really build up that confidence.
Be confident that your neurodiversity is a superpower and not a weakness because it is. Be confident that your subconscious can tackle the problem, even if you can’t consciously solve it. In short, be confident that you’re human with the basic trait that makes us all human. The desire to make the world a better place for ourselves and for those we love. And with that, this has been Innovation Cafe. I’m Gary Schuster. Please give me a like please give me a subscribe. Please ask some questions in the comments if you have any and we’ll catch you next time.
