There are two ways we learn. The first is someone tells us and we believe it. The second is we do an experiment and we learn the result. The very first thing most humans do when born is cry. And that’s our first experiment. What happens when I cry? Well, usually it results in getting fed. And so you quickly learn crying means being fed. And you discover that yourself. But there’s so many things to know in the world. It’s impossible to discover everything yourself. So you have to believe some things. But here’s the trick. There’s a hybrid.
Instead of just believing it or just relying on experiments. Believe what someone tells you. But make sure to test it for yourself. This is known as trust but verify, and it’s been used across the geopolitical spectrum all over the world many, many years. It’s an amazing approach. Use it.
